Far from the dark and tortured image often associated with his music, the works offered by the Hanson Quartet in their new album for Harmonia Mundi bear witness to a surprisingly serene period in Schumann's life. We wanted to offer a diffracted, intensely colored and personified vision of the famous theme and variations of the 3rd Quartet. Each variation was an opportunity to offer an autonomous microcosm, with its own color signature, its own dynamics and editing grammar. A worked spatial and lighting design completes this deliberately kaleidoscopic Schumann.
